EFusjon, Inc has ceased their multi-level marketing business as of September 1, 2010.

I feel bad for EFusjon Distributors because I’ve been where they are right now.  And if EFusjon was their only source of income, then it’s a devastating blow.

So what can we learn from this?

This emphasizes the point that you really don’t own a network marketing business.  The company leaders own the business and you have no control of their decisions.  So you want to build a business that you really own and control.

To do that, you want to market “You, Inc.”, not just your network marketing company. Then if your MLM company changes their strategy, you still have your business intact.

Network marketing companies come and go, so you need to protect yourself by learning how to market yourself.  Start by watching these free Magnetic Sponsoring videos.

Savvy professionals build an email list that they can quantify, control, nurture, and make money from for life.

Learn how to generate network marketing leads, so that if your mlm company closes, you can move on and build a dynamic business with another network marketing company.  iContact or GetResponse are easy to use email systems.

This also allows you to setup multiple streams of income, so that when one stops, you have still have money coming in.

By recommending affiliate products and services to your contacts, you can create many times more income than with just your network marketing company.

And the fact is that most people won’t join your business, so you might as well earn extra cash by helping them get the products and services that they do need.

Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way.

Hopefully if you were a EFusjon Distributor, you’ve taken some of these steps to protect yourself. If not, then start today.

But don’t give up on your hopes and dreams just because a network marketing company closed.

A new network marketing company called My Harvest America was launched in December, 2009.

My Harvest America is a national grocery store that claims to save subscribers 30% – 70% on their groceries, with a low-price guarantee and free shipping.

Grocery store type mlm companies have not succeeded in the past, but MHA looks like it has positioned itself differently, so that it can succeed financially.

MHA is able to give Shoppers low prices because they don’t have to pay for store employees, real estate, utilities, insurance, etc., which are part of a local store.

MHA makes its money on the grocery sales, so that makes it stable. The My Harvest America compensation plan is paid out via income from Shopper subscriptions.

Local warehouse clubs like Sams Club and Costco charge a yearly membership, to give shoppers access to buy products mostly in bulk.

MHA charges Shoppers a $29.95 monthly membership, with no contracts or commitments.

I signed up as a Shopper and as a single guy I didn’t expect to save much.

But once I logged into the online grocery store, I found many of the staples that I buy on a regular basis like shaving razors and cream, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels… basically everything that you would find in the aisles of your local grocery store.

I ended up saving 40% over my local store. And I didn’t have to haul those groceries home, they were delivered for free.

What I realized is that the average family could save $100 – $400 a month, which pays for their $29.95 subscription, so the business opportunity part was a No-Brainer.

Once people start saving money, they’re not going to stop their membership, so retention should be great.

I believe that timing is everything with network marketing companies, and My Harvest America has a product that people need during this economically challenging times.

You hear story after story about people who foreclose or file bankruptcy, who say that if they would have had an extra $250 a month, they could have made it.

My Harvest America offers people the opportunity to save hundreds a month, which is thousands a year.

It also rewards them with recurring commissions when they refer others to the discount grocery store.

And if people take advantage of home business tax deductions, they may be able to save thousands more each year.

One of the biggest advantages I can see with My Harvest America is that it’s extremely easy to duplicate.

Many people find themselves in a position where they need additional income, but they don’t have Internet marketing skills to leverage a home based business online.

With MHA, there’s not much to explain, such as there is with nutritional products.

All they have to do is ask “Would you like to save 30-70% off on your groceries?”

Then they can simply hand out business cards that let people listen to a recorded call or visit an online presentation video, that explains the product and the opportunity to earn income by helping others save money.

People are going to get it right away and either decide to join or not.  Either way, it’s easy to simply be the messenger and let people decide for themselves.

Today iLearningGlobal TV announced that they have decided to stop marketing their membership-based personal development product through the network marketing model.

As an iLearningGlobal Marketer, this was NOT a shock to me.

The pricing of the iLearningGlobal Premium EDGE program was one of the major reasons that the network marketing model failed.

Personal development is NOT in the budget of most people, so paying $180/mo was a tall order, especially in the current economy.

It would have been better suited to be marketed at a $59.95 or $79.95 price point.

This gives you all the more reason to NOT primarily promote your network marketing company, but to use an Internet marketing system that helps you:

• Promote yourself, so that if your primary business closes, you still have a following;
• Build your email list and build your relationship with the people on your list, so that they get to know you, like you and trust you;
• Earn multiple streams of income with affiliate products, to increase your income;

What would happen if MonaVie and other liquid nutritional products were reclassified by the FDA as a conventional food?

The primary result would be that they would not be able to be marketed as a dietary supplement, but only as a conventional food, which could all but destroy your Monavie business.

This issue is currently being considered by the FDA, so don’t discount the possibility of it happening.

If you think that this could never happen, consider that the government took ephedra nutritional supplements off the market a few years ago. Ephedra was one of the MOST EFFECTIVE weight-loss supplements when used in a safe manner, but perhaps due to the influence of the lobbyist for the pharmaceutical companies, it was banned.

Keep in mind that pharmaceutical companies COMPETE with nutritional companies, to provide solutions to health challenges. So if they can get the government to ban nutritional ingredients or change the rules, then they can have a greater advantage in the marketplace.

If MonaVie and other liquid nutrition products were reclassified as foods, then that could effectively shut down distribution of the products, which would shut down commissions to their marketers.

If you’re a Mona Vie marketer and it’s the primary source of your income, then you would be in a very bad position.

So here’s the takeaway…

As a marketer for any network marketing company, you don’t own your business.

Read that again… You don’t own your business.

If the company closes, you lose everything. If the company terminates your independent contractor agreement, you lose everything. If the company changes the compensation plan, you are powerless to overrule.

You don’t really own anything with your mlm business. You do not own the product, the company, your downline, the domain name or the marketing pieces.

You are an independent distributor, you don’t have any rights and your distributorship can be taken away at any point for any reason.

So how can you protect yourself?

The first thing to strive for is OWNERSHIP and control. You want to build your business around ‘you’ as a person instead of around your mlm company. Your product is going to be what you can give to your prospects.

Your email list and your relationship to the people on your list is your most important asset. It is your business.

Think about that statement… If your primary company closed today and you don’t have a email marketing list, you’re out of business and have to start from scratch.

But if you’ve promoted yourself and built a large email marketing list, you can move onto other things, because you own your list and it goes with you.

You want to market your ability to help others create a home business.

This will get prospects to opt onto your email list to get access to more information.

Then your email autoresponder system can automatically send your leads the information they want. And it starts to BUILD A RELATIONSHIP with the people on your list, which is so important because people do business with those they know, like and trust.

Your email system then will position other training products to help them continue to learn and grow, which helps you GENERATE AFFILIATE INCOME streams.

And of course, your marketing system will position your primary business opportunity, to let the right people CALL YOU about your business.

To summarize, you want to market yourself not your MLM.

An effective MLM lead system shows you how to drive traffic to your capture page to generate leads, it markets affiliate products to create multiple income streams, it positions your primary business opportunity to build your team, and most importantly…

It helps you build a business that will last, even if your primary business opportunity changes.

I was introduced to AdvoCare in 2001, when my Massage Therapist gave me a packet of AdvoCare Spark.

And I loved it!

That one packet of Spark started me down a path to where I am today, an Internet Marketing Coach, helping people generate MLM leads.

So a GREAT TIP to network marketers that are looking to build an AdvoCare business, or any nutrition mlm company, is to use products like Spark to demonstrate that the product works.

IMPACT PRODUCTS like Spark give prospects an immediate result and mental focus energy drinks are in high demand in the market.

One negative that I found with the AdvoCare products is that there’s too many of them. I know that might sound stupid, but what I mean is that it’s hard for a new distributor to learn about all of the products and explain them to prospects.

So my advice is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Let people drink a Spark to get their attention and then introduce them to the core nutrition system, Metabolic Nutrition System.

Just get new customers started on two to three core products.  Then as they get results, you can add products to help them reach their goals even more effectively.

Now let me back up… to share how to give people a Spark or any impact product sample…

DO NOT hand a prospect a packet and expect them to take it home and drink it, because 1/2 the time it will end up in a drawer somewhere.

Make the drink for them and hand it to them.  Then you know that they drank it, and you get instant feedback.

I’ve tried their Metabolic Nutrition Systems and they work very well.

My only feedback is that nutritional science has evolved from pills to liquids for more effective absorption, so the product may be outdated.

The AdvoCare sports performance products are AMAZING, because of their relationships with athletic trainers and product developers.  So if you have a target audience of athletes, these will love the sports performance line.

My last advice about AdvoCare products or any nutritional product is to primarily target people who VALUE THEIR HEALTH.  These people already understand that they need to invest in their health and they are spending money in that area anyway.  Your job is to simply introduce them to your products.

Everyone needs quality nutrition, but don’t waste your time chasing after people who don’t care about it.
