I’ve just finished reading “Building on a Budget” and although I highly recommend the book, there are some critical points to consider before and after you’ve read it.

The Building On A Budget Book is from Mike Dillard, who is considered one of industry’s top authorities on attraction marketing, internet marketing, and personal branding within the Network Marketing industry thanks to the ground-breaking strategies found in the Magnetic Sponsoring and Black Belt Recruiting courses.

In this book, Mike takes on the “It takes money to make money” myth.

A lack of money isn’t a deal-breaker. It just requires that you take a different approach, and cash-in a different kind of equity… Your creativity.

Eventually you’ll want to leverage more time efficient methods of generating leads, such as Adwords Pay Per Click, so Mike’s goal with this Internet marketing training is to help you generate traffic and leads, to help increase your marketing.

This isn’t an end all training… it simply a means to an end, to help readers learn how to build their marketing budget, so that they can start using marketing strategies that can be leveraged over a long period of time.

Mike Dillard has a great writing style. He is to-the-point and shares valuable information that every network marketer will benefit from.

In Building on a Budget Mike Dillard focuses primarily upon these five marketing methods that networkers can use to generate low cost (or free) leads continuously.

1. Craigslist
2. Video Sharing
3. Press Releases
4. Blogs

The first method to generate free traffic is to use Craigslist.org

www.craigslist.org is the world’s largest website, where you can place free ads in various cities across the U.S. and generate interest in your product or opportunity.

Note: A strategy like posting on Craigslist will not provide the same long-term benefits as other options available.

While Craigslist is easy to teach and requires less thinking to implement, it’s not as powerful as other Social Marketing “Building on a Budget” strategies.

It requires that you post ads in all the major cities on a regular basis, as the ads don’t stay on the site forever.

Craigslist guards against duplicate ads, so you have to change the ad by 20% each time, to make it appear different. This can consume a lot of time.

Also, Craigslist does not provide an opportunity to pre-build a relationship with your prospects like other social marketing strategies, which is one of the most empowering aspects to using attraction marketing…

In addition, Craigslist does not provide an opportunity to create long-term results on the search engines, which you can get with other social marketing methods that are fairly easy to learn.

The second method to generate free traffic is posting videos

This strategy leverages your time better, because your videos stay in play for prospects to view for years to come, which drives traffic to your capture page.

You will need to get a quality camera like The Flip, which uploads videos directly to YouTube.  I love my Flip camera and it’s worth the $150 investment to make video publishing easy

The second cost challenge is that you’ll need to purchase Camtasia from TechSmith.com, to be able to record your screen and audio to make videos, and to edit your videos if needed.Camtasia is $299 and worth every penny, but it’s another marketing expense you’ll need to incur during your beginning marketing days.

Also, you’ll eventually want to get Traffic Geyser, which submits your videos out to other video sites and helps you get a top 10 Google listing within minutes.

The third strategy for generating free traffic is press releases

Press releases take time to compose, but they are very easy to do and you reap the benefits from doing work once and getting results for a long period of time.

You definitely want to invest some time in learning copywriting, to write press releases that compel readers to take action.

The fourth strategy for generating free traffic is to have a blog

Creating a blog that appeals to the visitor and captures their attention will require some technical abilities and of course, great copywriting.

Mike also dives into describing the funded sponsoring proposal concept, which aids a network marketer in generating much needed cash-flow while building their network marketing business with monetization–as most traditional business do.

Mike is fantastic at selling concepts. And since I am convinced that network marketers will be far more successful in their business if they learn these new Internet marketing methods, I highly recommend that everyone reads this book.
